2. AN IMAGINED PLACE
The Twentieth Century was when California
introduced to
radio, film, and television;
during this century the arts designed and
redesigned
California as an imagined place.
Films weren’t originally done in LA but
when it was realized that consistent weather was
needed for outdoor filming, southern California
became the ideal location.
An interesting fact is that economic hard times
had minimal impact
on the film industry.
3. LIFE ON THE COAST
During the 1960’s this movement was expanding to
other parts of
California.
Photography was also another large movement,
many groups formed.
The invention of sound with Film opened up new
possibilities for
composers.
In 1990 California would become the most urban and
sub-urban state
in the nation.
Almost all forms of art made a switch from
dreamscapes to more
radical modern themes.
